  • Temperature: (1) __________ degrees Celsius
  • Expected rain: (2) __________ %

  • Best time for outdoor activities: (4) __________ PM
  • Temperature tomorrow: (5) __________ degrees Celsius

II. READING

TASK 1. Read the passage. Circle the correct answer A, B, C, or D to each of the questions.

Climate change is one of the most urgent challenges facing humanity today. Rising temperatures are causing glaciers and ice sheets to melt, contributing to higher sea levels. This threatens many low-lying areas, including cities and islands. Moreover, unpredictable weather patterns are becoming more frequent, with floods, heatwaves, and storms affecting regions all over the world.

In addition to human activities like burning fossil fuels, deforestation also plays a significant role in climate change. Trees are vital in absorbing carbon dioxide from the atmosphere, and when forests are destroyed, the carbon they store is released back into the environment, making the situation worse.

Governments and environmental organizations have launched many initiatives to tackle climate change, such as reducing emissions, promoting renewable energy, and protecting forests. However, there is still much work to be done. Citizens must also do their part, whether by using public transportation, reducing energy consumption, or supporting policies that promote environmental sustainability.

  1. What is one major effect of climate change mentioned in the passage?
    A. A decrease in global temperature
    B. A rise in sea levels
    C. An increase in forest size
    D. The extinction of all species
  2. What human activity is contributing to climate change?
    A. Recycling
    B. Burning fossil fuels
    C. Protecting wildlife
    D. Planting trees
  3. According to the passage, what happens when forests are destroyed?
    A. More carbon dioxide is absorbed
    B. More oxygen is produced
    C. Carbon stored in trees is released into the atmosphere
    D. The weather becomes more predictable
  4. What are governments and organizations doing to combat climate change?
    A. Ignoring the problem
    B. Increasing fossil fuel consumption
    C. Promoting renewable energy and protecting forests
    D. Reducing their use of renewable energy
  5. What is the role of citizens in addressing climate change?
    A. To ignore environmental policies
    B. To rely solely on government action
    C. To contribute by adopting sustainable practices
    D. To continue using non-renewable resources

TASK 2. Fill in the blanks with ONE suitable word for each blank.

Climate change is a serious issue that requires immediate action. One of the main causes of global warming is the (1) ___________ of fossil fuels, which release harmful gases into the atmosphere. In addition, deforestation is a (2) ___________ factor, as it reduces the number of trees that can absorb carbon dioxide. If we do not take action soon, we may experience (3) ___________ effects, including more frequent floods, droughts, and extreme weather. Governments, businesses, and individuals all have a role to play in reducing carbon emissions. Using renewable energy sources, such as (4) ___________ and solar power, and cutting down on waste are just a few ways to help fight climate change. If we fail to act, the consequences could be (5) ___________ for future generations.

III. WRITING

Saving energy is important for several reasons. First, it helps reduce pollution and greenhouse gas emissions, which contribute to climate change. At home, we can save energy by turning off lights when not in use, using energy-efficient appliances, and reducing heating and cooling consumption. At school, we can use natural light whenever possible and encourage everyone to turn off electronics when they are not needed. Saving energy not only helps protect the environment but also reduces utility bills and conserves natural resources for future generations. By making small changes in our daily habits, we can make a big difference in conserving energy.
